Polenta actually goes with everything. But let’s start from the beginning:

Ingredienti

For 4 people you need:

  • 4 large peppers (the round ones are better to fill)
  • 300 g minced veal (if you don’t like veal, you can also use beef)
  • 150 g salsiccia (Italian sausage)
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 50 g Grana Padano or Parmesan cheese to grate
  • 200 g provolone cheese
  • 150 ml whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • some parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For gratinating you still need

  • 20 g Grano Padano or Parmesan cheese
  • 20 g provolone cheese

And for decoration some basil, because it looks nicer with it.

Preparazione

Of course, first you need to wash the peppers thoroughly, dry them, then cut off the cap at the top and carefully remove the seeds through the opening at the top. You can cut the cut cap (excluding the stem) into small cubes. Then mix breadcrumbs and milk, Now it’s the sausage’s turn: remove the skin and put the sausage meat in a bowl, to which you can also add the minced meat at the same time. Now pour off the excess milk from the breadcrumbs and add it to the sausage and minced meat. Mix everything well.

Now you can add the grated cheese: provolone and grana (or parmesan). Quickly add the two eggs and the diced peppers. And of course salt and pepper. And the parsley. Now mix everything well again. Use your hands, then you get a special feeling for “your” food!

Now place the peppers in a baking dish and carefully fill them with the mixture. With the back of a spoon, you can actually press the mixture in well. Just don’t push too hard so you don’t break the peppers!

At this point, you might want to take a break or do something else. Because all that needs to be done now is to cook the pods for 40 minutes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees. Then they sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and grill the peppers for another 3-4 minutes on high. The dish is ready. Buon appetito!
